Introduction

Ken Barris is a writer, poet, critic and researcher. He has published five novels, two collections of short stories, two collections of poetry, and many individual short stories and poems in a wide range of journals.

He has also won various literary awards in South Africa for short and long fiction and poetry, including the M-Net Book Prize, the Ad Donker Award, the Ingrid Jonker Prize, the Thomas Pringle Award and the University of Johannesburg Prize

Barris works as a faculty coordinator and researcher at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town. His research interests include post-apartheid fiction and academic literacy.
